Councilmember Joe Burns was elected to the Council in November, 2016 after serving over 6 years on the Park and Recreation Commission.
Joe chaired the committee to pass Measure O in November, 2014 which increased sales tax a quarter percent to fund needed storm water, street and sidewalk repairs. He was also active in the Measure F campaign in 2015 to pass the Certificates of Participation funding program for park improvements. He is a former Willow Creek Foundation board member and Sausalito Beautiful study group member, currently drives for the CARSS program and leads the effort to start a youth softball league for girls in Sausalito. He is also a former property manager of the MLK property and provided additional facility management services to the city.
Joe is a licensed real estate broker and began his career in the industry over 30 years ago, as he completed his marketing degree from Fresno State University. His current specialty is selling residential property throughout the North Bay, with a focus on serving his Sausalito neighbors.
Along with his full-time commitment to real estate sales and serving on the Council, Joe is passionate about coaching high school softball at the Bay School of San Francisco and providing his daughter the best of the Marin lifestyle that includes a perfect blend of urban and rural experiences.
