A Grant Has Been Awarded!
The City’s of Sausalito has received a $12,500 grant from the California State Office of Historic Preservation for the preparation of a City-wide Neighborhood Historical Study. The City has hired VerPlanck Historic Preservation Consulting to prepare the study.

Purpose of the Study?
The City-wide Neighborhood Historical Study will focus on the physical development of Sausalito, how and why it developed, what types of properties characterized its development, and whether or not the properties may be historically significant. The Study will identify significant themes, patterns of development, and property types, so that interested parties can recognize the forces that shaped the built environment over time. Furthermore, the Study will provide a framework that helps for the identification, evaluation, and treatment of historic resources.

Public Workshop Opportunity!
A public workshop on the City-wide Neighborhood Historical Study will be held on Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at 6:30PM in the City Council Chambers located at 420 Litho Street, Sausalito, CA 94965. The purpose of the public workshop is to provide information on all facets related to the preparation of the City-wide Neighborhood Historical Study, in addition to providing an opportunity community members to provide input, share stories, and/or any photographs (1960s and older) . Do you have any interesting historical facts about the City? Are you aware of significant historical events or historical properties that should be recognized? Would you like to play a part in assisting staff and the consultant with the Study?
