City Hall Elevator Will Be Out of Service for 6-8 Weeks
Posted Date: 3/15/2017 9:00 AM
Sausalito City Hall is getting a new elevator. The old elevator, which dates to the 1970s, has been subject to increasingly frequent breakdowns. The upgrade is also necessary to bring elevator service in City Hall into compliance with current standards for accessibility, as required by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

The project to install the new elevator will begin during the week of March 20 and will be overseen by the Department of Public Works. The project is expected to take between six and eight weeks, during which time the elevator will be unavailable. Visitors who would normally use the elevator to access City Hall will need to use the accessible exterior entrances corresponding to each floor.

Main Floor (Council Chambers, Library, Administration, Community Development): Access will be via the building entrance located on Litho Street.

Upper Level (Historical Society, Friends of the Library Bookstore): Access will be via the building entrance at the south end of the City Hall parking lot.

Lower Level (Parks and Recreation offices, Edgewater Room): Access will be via the building entrance on the north side of the building, adjacent to the basketball courts.

Temporary ADA parking spaces will be located near each entrance.
