Marin Clean Energy

The Marin County Board of Supervisors has requested that the Sausalito City Council discuss the Marin Clean Energy Business Plan to determine whether the City will be participating in new Joint Powers Authority with the other towns and cities in Marin to initiate county-wide Community Choice Aggregation (CCA). Marin Clean Energy (MCE) is a plan to create a new green power agency in Marin County. Under MCE, Marin County cities and towns would form a Joint Power Authority which would buy renewable power collectively directly, while PG&E would continue to be responsible for the transmission lines, billing and other duties.

The Sausalito City Council, Sustainability Commissioners, and City Staff are currently examining MCE to assess its costs and benefits. The first public meeting regarding MCE was held on April 22, 2008.
