PARKS AND RECREATION

Arias in the Afternoon – October 21, 2012 – 2:00 pm in Gabrielson Park
Arias in the Afternoon with the San Francisco Opera Singers returns. This two-hour free program is once again sponsored by the Arques Charitable Education Trust and produced by the Sausalito Parks & Recreation Department. Come enjoy the San Francisco Opera in the beautiful and picturesque setting of Gabrielson Park.

Although the event is free, you can purchase a special, V.I.P. table at the cost of $75 for residents and $85 for non-residents. These pre-set tables will include a chilled bottle of champagne and fresh strawberries so that you can enjoy this event even more.


SAUSALICIOUS!  -  A community event celebrating local education, art, music and delicious Sausalito Restaurants

In celebration of Willow Creek Academy's 11th Anniversary, Willow Creek Foundation and the City of Sausalito Parks & Recreation Department present Sausalicious!.

Come and view over 20 local artists in their studios and enjoy some of Sausalito's best restaurants; Plate Shop, Osteria Divino, Sartaj India Cafe, Saylor’s Restaurant, Sushi Ran and many more offering some of their best dishes to celebrate this wonderful community event.  Everyone is welcome to join in the fun.  

Where: 10 Liberty Ship Way, Artist Studio’s Bay 2, Sausalito
When:  Saturday, November 10th
Time:   5:00 to 7:00 pm
Cost:   $25 per person

Willow Creek Foundation and Sausalito Parks & Recreation will stage a Silent Auction to benefit children’s programs with many coveted auction items such as special getaway vacation packages, Jazz by the Bay tables & picnics, 49er 50yardline tickets, dinners and gift certificates to all your favorite places.  All proceeds benefit Willow Creek Academy and Robin Sweeny Park Playground.

Met Opera Discussion Group
At each meeting, host Tom Wilhite offers his preview of an upcoming opera from the Metropolitan Opera in New York. Tom presents background on the composer and opera and gives commentary on audio and video selections from past performances. Meetings coincide with HD simulcasts screened at Sausalito’s CineArts theater. No advance registration required!

POLICE DEPARTMENT

Vehicle Amnesty Days
Do you have a vehicle in your private driveway or in your garage that you want to get rid of?  Running or not, ownership documents or not, the Marin County Sheriff’s Department and Pick-n-Pull are offering to pick it up and tow it away.  Now through November 17 you can call for limited free towing to have your vehicle removed.  Call 866-520-9749.  For additional information about this program, call Deputy Andy Smith at 479-2311.  Vehicles will only be removed if it is on your residential property and you can prove so.  (all vehicles will be verified before being removed)

 

PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENTS 

Planned PG&E Service Interruption
PG&E will be replacing an electric power pole is on TUESDAY, OCTOBER 23, 2012 from 8:30AM to 3:00PM.  Service will be interrupted in the area of Harbor Drive and Bridgeway. 

You should have received a courtesy notice if you will be affected; however, if you have any questions, please contact PG&E direct.

 THINGS HAPPENING AROUND OUR COMMUNITY

Vina del Mar Sister City Reception
On Tuesday, October 23 from 5:30-7:30 pm, the Sausalito/Vina del Mar Sister City Committee will host a reception at Studio 333 (333 Caledonia Street).  Chilean artist, German von Appen, will be displaying his work.  Please join us for an official reception and welcoming of our Sister City visiting delegates.

 

Explore Sausalito’s Paths and Walkways
Dorothy Gibson will once again begin her famous walks throughout Sausalito’s Paths and Walkways.  Meet at the Historical Society’s Visitor Center (the Ice House at Bridgeway and Bay) at 10:00 am.  The walks are held every Saturday beginning November 3 and ending December 15.  It is the 10th year that she will be doing this – RAIN OR SHINE.  Allow three hours.  Call 415.332.1935 if you have any questions.

Music, Drinks, Appetizers, Exhibit of Sausalito Village Artists and More

You are invited  to celebrate with us and to learn about this volunteer group of Sausalito
residents committed to helping all of our residents  live independently, safely and confidently  in their own Sausalito homes as they  grow older, and to lead active, socially connected and productive lives.

Membership is only $200 a year for a household of one or two members and new members are very welcome.
